The Padaung people first came from Mongolia to Myanmar and settled here, close to the country border with Thailand. Over 50,000 tribe members are living in the middle of the jungle, isolated from the rest of the modern world.
The most interesting thing about their traditional outfits is the jewelry that all women are wearing on their neck. As soon as the girls turn 5, they start wearing custom-made bronze rings around their neck. The number and shape of the rings show one’s beauty and status.
