While there are tons of actors who died on set, we cannot let this article go without mentioning the ones who, although they didn’t die on set, it was during filming that their life ended. For example, while in the middle of filming Wagons East, John Candy went home one night when finished with shooting and, after calling his kids to say goodnight, had a heart attack. Financial issues were why he signed on to do a movie he disliked, and in the end, it killed him.
Also, did you know the famous Shrek was initially supposed to be voiced by Comedian Chris Farley? A large chunk of the voice-over had already been recorded when the actor suddenly overdosed, not enough of it though, because that’s when Mike Myers stepped in.
We also have to include Aaliyah in our list. She snuck in a Quick music video shoot while filming The Matrix Reloaded. On their way back, her team put too much equipment on the plane and did not listen to the pilot’s warning. The plane crashed a few minutes after they took off. Ultimately she was replaced in the movie by Nona Gaye.
