Johnny Depp
Johnny Depp is an American actor and producer. As you probably already know, he is the recipient of numerous accolades, including ten Golden Globe Award nominations, winning one for Best Actor, three Academy Award nominations for Best Actor, to name a few. Depp is often regarded as one of the greatest actors in the world. He is also one of the highest paid actors in the world, with earnings of $75 million.
However, he made his film debut in the 1984 film A Nightmare on Elm Street. But how did that happen? Well, it seems that Depp met American actor and filmmaker Nicolas Cage through his then wife, Lori Anne Allison, and he encouraged Depp to pursue an acting career. In that horror movie, he portrayed the boyfriend of heroine Nancy Thompson, Glen Lantz.
Depp continued his acting career with small roles until he became famous and chose independent roles. He started to choose more interesting roles, rather than those that could have been successful at the box office. In 2003, he starred in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, which was a major box office success. His role as pirate Captain Jack Sparrow earned him Academy Award, Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations and a Screen Actor’s Guild Award for Best Actor as well as an MTV Movie Award.
