The character of Krusty the Clown was in fact supposed to be Homer’s secret identity!
In case you didn’t know, the main idea behind The Simpsons was of a son that showed no respect for his father, but instead he totally adored a clown – which was actually his own dad. However, as the show progressed, the producers thought the idea was too complex and dropped it. However, they saved Krusty the Clown and we’re all glad they did!
