Every Christmas should be about goodness, love and compassion. The spirit of Christmas gives you hope to move on and the possibility to become a better person. Your inner child comes out and offers you the joy you need. Gathering around the Christmas tree with your loving family, opening presents and letting the magic of Christmas surround you it’s all what you need. Indeed, we are all waiting for this time of the year, but some of us are celebrating the holiday in advance. This family has a special reason for doing that and this thing will make you cry.
Meet Jacob Thompson, a nine-year-old kid who enjoys playing games like Minecraft or Star Wars. Until now, everything seems common, but what you don’t know it’s that this kid was diagnosed with high risk Neuroblastoma, when he was five. This is the reason why his parents decided to celebrate the holiday early. Their son only have one more month to live and he is asking people to celebrate Christmas with him by sending him beautiful Christmas cards.
“He got some cards from this Halloween, and he opened up and saw them and it was like getting a gif. He was excited to see what people had to say and it just brightened his day, ” said Roger Guay, Jacob’s father. After Jacob’s request, he received more than 100 Christmas cards. “People have called him an old soul and I believe it because he has taught us so much about life and about people,” said Guay. “He’s accomplished everything that he needed to do by 9 years old, and a lot of people don’t accomplish that, ever.” Jacob and his family will celebrate Christmas next weekend in his hospital room at Maine Medical Center. There will be a Christmas tree with lights and many other decorations and the biggest surprise will be the visit of Santa Claus.
