It sounds extreme, but yes, she really picked one million discarded cigarette butts in 3 and a half years. “I’ve had days where I’ve picked up 3,000 butts, in one day, and it’s like, come on people,” she said. “Don’t throw your butts, better yet, stop smoking.”
Known as the “Butt Lady”, Sally Dawley hopes that her mission will inspire others to not discarding cigarette butts again on the streets and she wants to continue cleaning up to approach a new record— 2 million cigarette butts.
