The Houska Castle
It is believed that the Houska Castle was built over a pit that leads to hell based on a 13th century legend. The legend says that the King Ottokar II wanted to know what was in the pit, so he told prisoners that he’d set them free if they dared to go down there and tell him what lays in that place. Apparently, the first prisoner who went down came back after a few seconds terrified, with his hair turned white and skin much older than he was. After that, they built a castle with no kitchen or bathrooms for the evil spirits to live in it.
