The film cost a staggering $378.5 million to create and much of that was due to insanely high salaries (Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, and Penelope Cruz), an extremely large supporting cast and crew, and wildly detailed sets that are more elaborate than perhaps any other film in history.
