The latest variant, omicron, emerged in the U.S. in early December, in California. It was less than a week since WHO announced its discovery. Ever since then, the virus started spreading very FAST across the nation, overtaking the delta infections.
The good news about this is the fact that scientists and many other studies showed that this variant is far from deadly. In addition, you are also less likely to end up in a hospital if you catch it.
