Lascaux Caves
This is the home of the oldest paintings known to men, which are about 17,300 years old. Discovered in 1940, the cave system was open to the public for a while, but shortly after it was closed because people’s presence was causing too much damage. Today, only a handful of archaeologists can enter the place to check the status of the cave.
