Creepy Mermaids
Scholars who follow the Aquatic Ape Theory haven’t ruled out the possibility of an evolutionary throwback that could manifest as a mermaid. The AAT foments the theory that the ancestors of modern humans were more like aquatic mammals. As such, it’s likely that as with similar genetic reversals found in the animal kingdom, an aquatic ape-like creature might exist if only in small numbers or in remote corners of the globe.
