…Here is something more about the Oscars!

The idea for this award show appeared in 1927 and belongs to Louis B. Mayer, the chief of MGM studios. This came to his mind while he was hosting a beautiful dinner for his friends at his home. He wanted to create an organization that the cinematographic industry could benefit from.

A few days later, Mayer and another 36 people who were also part of the creative divisions of the film industry had dinner at Los Angeles’s Ambassador Hotel. The gathering wasn’t just a simple meal between friends and colleagues, but it was actually a ceremony where everyone heard an amazing proposal: to found the International Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

They liked the idea and decided to have a leader of the organization and in this case, the winner was Douglas Fairbanks. The medalists in every category receive a golden statuette in the Art Deco style.
