1. The Mummy (2017)
The original Universal’s The Mummy franchise from the 1930s, 40s and 50s has already had a successful remake made in 1999, under the same name, and starring Brendan Fraser. The movie was such a hit that it also had two sequels.
So, I guess we can all agree, that another remake was totally unnecessary.
However, in 2017, the studio decided to go for another new remake. Unfortunately, even the stellar power of Tom Cruise — with the assistance of Russell Crowe as Dr. Jekyll — could not save them an estimated loss of $ 95 million, and Universal’s own stab at the cinematic universe (the Dark Universe) was declared DOA.
