Charles Darwin and Emma Wedgewood
When she was thirty, she and a twenty-nine-year-old Charles were married–ironically, the Reverend officiating the ceremony was their cousin. Together, Charles and Emma had ten children, three of whom died in childhood. True, many children died in the mid-1800s, but we can’t help wondering if the close blood relationship of their parents was a contributing factor.
