How would you feel if the Harvard University gave you an award (without being a student there)? Well, long story short, this was Rihanna’s reaction to receiving the 2017 Harvard University Humanitarian of the Year Award:

A couple of days ago, the Grammy-award winning singer paid a visit to Cambridge, but not to study or to visit the surroundings! Rihanna gave a speech after the most prestigious university in the world offered her an award for the 2017 Humanitarian of the Year.

Her first words after getting on the stage? ‘So I made it to Harvard! Never thought I’d be able to say that in my life. But it feels good.’

The university officials declared that Rihanna’s involvement in multiple charitable causes convinced them that she deserved this year’s title. Among other things, the singer built a state-of-the-art center for oncology and nuclear medicine, which uses modern methods to diagnose breast cancer, in Barbados. Rihanna also supports the Global Partnership for Education and Global Citizen Project, which allows children to get education in more than 60 poor countries worldwide. She developed the Clara Lionel Foundation scholarship program (named after her grandparents) that increases Caribbean students’ chances of attending US colleges.
