The famous actress, best known for her role as Princess Leia on Star Wars struggled with substance abuse that was eventually fatal. She was struggling with mental illness and she was finding comfort into the use of drugs and alcohol.
When she was only 28, she overdosed on painkillers and was hospitalized. That was the moment when she was also diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
She talked openly about her addiction throughout her life, she admitted she tried cannabis when she was only 13 and that she used drugs on the set of Star Wars: “If it was Hollywood to blame, then we’d all be dope addicts.”
In 2017 she died of a cardiac arrest, but according to further tests, there were substances found in her bloodstream.
