Healthy snacks from seeds, nuts or trail mix

In general, there are certain nuts and seeds that contain vegetal proteins, fiber and other essential nutrients that can improve your body’s health condition. “The nuts and seeds provide unsaturated fats, including some omega-3s that can reduce [arterial] inflammation and inhibit platelets from sticking together,” says Katz.

So, you should stop eating unhealthy foods, if you really want to be healthier and younger. Instead, you can choose a healthy snack made from almonds, pistachios, hazelnuts, cashews, walnuts, peanuts and so on. 

“Nut consumption is related to a reduction in ‘bad’ LDL cholesterol and the risk of heart disease,” says Rachel Brown, the associate professor at the University of Otago. “And that tends to be shown in epidemiological studies, where we follow groups for years, and in clinical trials when we give people nuts and their cholesterol comes down.”

“People like the latest fashion or fad or new product. Raw nuts are a portion of basic food and they’ve been around forever. They’re not trendy, but they should be, because of the health benefits. And you don’t have to eat that many for them to have an effect,” said the Auckland dietician, Alice Gormack.
