There are some foods that need to be exposed to the air
There are foods that need more air than others and before freezing them you should figure out if they need packaging with air or just using a vacuum sealer. Â
“Freezers do a great job of preserving food, and it’s tempting to just put food in there when you don’t want to use it immediately, but it’s well worth it to take a moment to check out how it’s packaged before you freeze,” said Lan Lam, senior editor at Cook’s Illustrated in Boston, Massachusetts.Â
For instance, solid foods should be wrapped tightly and without air or you should use a vacuum sealer. Wrapped foods, such as cheese, must be kept in a bag that closes tightly to prevent odor (even though they are already wrapped). Liquids need more space because they will expand when frozen.
