Central sleep apnea
Central sleep apnea is a disorder that causes a patient’s breathing to stop and start repeatedly during sleep. This disorder occurs mostly because your brain doesn’t send proper signals to the muscles that control your breathing functions. It’s important to know that central sleep apnea is actually different from obstructive sleep apnea and the first condition is less common.
In general, this condition is more likely to be found in people who have suffered from other serious conditions, such as heart failure and stroke, as well as in people who sleep at high altitudes.
