Flickering and blinking lights
Occasional flickering lights are normal in a house, but if it happens regularly and is severe, then you need to consult an electrician as soon as possible. According to experts, flickering and blinking lights are usually caused by bulb problems, loose light plug, appliance pulling large amounts of current on startup, voltage fluctuations, outdated wiring, and so on. For instance, if the light starts flickering when you turn on another appliance, such as washing machine or air conditioner, it means that your appliances consume more electrical current than the circuit can handle and you should solve this problem by hiring an electrician.
“Overloaded electrical circuits should only be repaired by a licensed, qualified electrician,” says Keith Pinkerton, owner of Mr. Electric of Huntsville, Alabama, a Neighborly company.
Random beeps on your smoke alarm
If you hear beeps at the smoke alarm, it may be a sign that its battery is dying, the sensing cleaner may be dirty, steam may also be a reason or it should be replaced.
“Roughly two-thirds of all home fire deaths occur when smoke alarms are not working,” says Pinkerton. “Check the home to verify smoke alarms are installed in every bedroom, outside each sleeping area, and on every level of the home. A licensed, qualified electrician should be contacted to verify your home’s smoke alarm system meets the latest building and electrical codes.”
Try to solve this problem as soon as possible, because your smoke alarm should work constantly. Replace its battery, clean the sensing chamber, or buy another one if it has reached the end of its life.
