Generally, people who suffered a traumatic event are diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which is a disorder that affects your mental health. Even though they are very similar, many psychologists don’t classify PTSD as an AD.
“Even if it’s not to the level [of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)], people can also develop new worries after a traumatic life event,” says Keenan-Miller. “Some people, if they have a car accident, will become quite worried about driving.”
