1. Daniel Radcliffe

Daniel Radcliffe, best known for playing Harry Potter in the movie franchise with the same name, had problems with alcohol abuse when he was playing the teenage wizard. Being in the public eye since he was a kid, the actor felt a little anxious and stressed out, so he started drinking every night. After a while, he got scared that his nighly-drinking behavior would lead to serious alcohol addiction, so he decided to quit.

2. Matthew Perry

Matthew Perry, best known for his role as Chandler Bing in the sitcom “F.R.I.E.N.D.S”, had major problems with alcohol consumption through the years. In an interview for BBC, he said that he couldn’t remember anything for three years, between seasons three and six of the popular TV show.

Even though from an outsider’s point of view it looked like Matthew Perry had everything he ever wanted, such as fame, money, public appreciation, good friends, and a great job, in reality, he was very lonely due to his alcohol addiction.

In 1997, he spent 28 days in rehab, in Minnesota, at a Hazelden Betty Ford facility. However, he liked drinking so much, that he couldn’t help it and didn’t manage to stay sober for long. The actor was diagnosed with pancreatitis, which is an inflammation of the pancreas due to alcohol abuse. This condition could’ve been deadly, so he was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles in 2000.

Again, he wasn’t aware of his health condition. The day he left the hospital, he crashed his car into a house. Fortunately, nobody was home, so the only person who got hurt was the actor. After some time, Perry feared for his life, so he decided to quit drinking.
