Practice food safety

Of course, you can’t dance and drink all night, but you definitely have to eat some special foods during this event, and in this case, you have to practice food safety. So, it’s your responsibility to provide enough food, plates, cutlery and serving utensils so that your guests don’t have to share them. Yet, you can use disposable cutlery to keep them safe and replace them with every dish.

One of the most important things that you have to take into consideration as a host is to avoid buffets! Your guests should never touch other individuals’ food or snacks, but if you still want to do something similar, you can opt for individually portioned snacks that allow them to minimize the risk of spreading the virus. This way, they won’t share the same utensils and won’t touch all the food out there.

In addition, you can also use disposable glasses and write down the name of your guests on them so as not to confuse them. You can try to set up tables that are at least six feet apart from other guests. But couples and other families should stay at the same table, though.

Check your health state

Whether you are a host or a guest, it’s important to check your health state before attending or organizing an event. If you host the party, then ask everyone if they are feeling fine, and if someone is showing signs of COVID-19 then schedule the party for another time. If you have been invited to celebrate New Year’s Eve with your friends, and you are not feeling well, then you should definitely stay home.

Don’t forget that COVID-19 affects people differently and can lead to severe complications in those with comorbidities. Even though you may be asymptomatic, other people are not and could even die if they contract the virus.
