More free pie and discounted pizza — March 14
Each year, a slew of restaurants offer freebies and discounted fare on “National Pi Day,” March 14. Why on that day? Because the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter — which is roughly 3.14 — is known as “pi,” and is celebrated on the 14th day of the third month of the year, or 3/14.
Some Pi Day discounts are for pizzas. In most of those cases, you will pay $3.14 for your pizza pie. But other deals are freebies, usually for “pie,” the fruit-filled treat. Last year, Marie Callender’s, O’Charley’s and Village Inn all offered a free slice of pie. Money Talks News will let you know about this year’s deals when they are announced.
