Many celebrities took an active part in the various conflicts of the past century, including the World Wars, the Korean War and the one in Vietnam. While some like Clark Gable and James Stewart served and went on to become decorated veterans, others like Marilyn Monroe and Fred Astaire entertained the troops. A few others, like Douglas Fairbanks, even helped raise loans for covering war expenses.
