Amsterdam
A historic city famous for being home to the Anne Frank house and a picturesque network of canals and bridges, Amsterdam is often referred to as the “Venice of the North.”
Amsterdam residents, however, are increasingly alienated by the hordes of visitors, many on short, boozy weekends, according to Responsible Travel.
The city is now scaling back on advertising and self-promotion in an effort to manage rather than increase tourism, and it also recently launched a new campaign called “Enjoy and Respect,” which aims to curb unwanted tourist behavior.
