Courchevel International Airport – France
Aside from the fact that it’s located right next to a ski resort of the French Alps, this airport features a very short runway with a gradient of nearly 20%!
Our next one might make you wonder weather you’d want to use it…..

I simply cannot see any of the BIG jets landing here at Barra!!?
That’s why they don’t!
Where in the hell is RENO in this discussion….geezzz
Nothing wrong will Reno. For a real thrill try Lake Tahoe
Worst landing we ever had. Even a flight attendant next to us going home said she was going in to resign as landing at Reno was too much like a bucking bronco every time she flew in.
So, In Gibraltar can’t they just build an UNDERPASS for the traffic? Geez what brilliant person designed this anyway???? Are they short on land? Sometimes stupidity simply amazes me. And they are worried about undressing you at checkpoints in the airport so you can get in a plane that crosses traffic. You should be more worried about them then they should be about you……Nice.
Of course they are short of land? It’s a rock! So short of land that the inside is hollowed out and a town! The air strip is the bit of land, the isthmus attaching the rock to the main land which is an other country.
And where is your sense of adventure?
It is quite thrilling to land as if in the sea and hitting the runway at its very beginning and then all flaps down for maximum braking!
So the access road is closed the way one closes a railway crossing. What’s the big deal? Dah!
It’s not much fun being in one of those cars either. First you drive across the runway and then you endure the Spanish customs agents who like to delay and inconvenience people in protest against English “occupation” of Gibralter.
The whole country of Gibraltar is 2.6 square miles in contrast Dallas/Fort Worth Airport is 27 square miles. So they do have a shortage of land.
Gibraltar is always fun as you try and get grandma and her wheelchair across the runway as a 737 is landing
Numbers 8 & 9 seem to have railways instead of runways. ?
Both Saba and St. Barth have hair-raising airports
This is not just a busy street… it is the ONLY highway, and connects Spain to Gibraltar.

What about St Barths? Worse than St Maarten!!
Which airports should I avoid. I’m scared of planes.
“Airplanes from all over the world” do not land on Barra. Loganair is the only airline operating from cities in Scotland to Barra, and, if the weather is stormy, the flight just doesn’t take off (except for medical energencies).
In #9 and 10, you say ‘railway’ where I think you mean ‘runway.’
Madeira , Funchal airport Portugal island in the Atlantic it’s the Creasyest airport in the workd
Make a list of the top ten dangerous airports in the USA. There’s plenty.
Landing in Madeira, Portugal . That’s a runwayj
St Thomas, USVI airport used to be quite scary to use. Short runway adjacent to a beach. I wonder if it has been expanded somewhat by now.
san diego airport is scary enough for me. you come in a for a landing AND SCRAPE JUST 20 FEET ABOVE A LARGE HOTEL THERE. THEN SECOND IS O’HARE IN CHICAGO. THERE ARE SO MANY INCOMING AND OUTGOING FLIGHTS, THEY LITERALLY BLOCK OUT THE SUN!!!
The approach to Crissy Field airport in San Francisco used to provide STUNNING views of the south end of the Golden Gate bridge. That airport has been closed for some time and is now a playground.
