East Cleveland, Ohio
East Cleveland didn’t always struggle though. In the early 20th century industry brought jobs and prosperity. From the National Bindery Co., which opened in 1905, to the lamp division of General Electric, which came to East Cleveland in 1911, the town’s economy was a lot healthier.
Fast forward to 2017, and with the company only employing 300 people and business dwindling, General Electric has announced plans to sell the plant.
