We all know that ‘detox’ or ‘detoxification’ is a popular method to help your body get rid of toxins, as well as to improve your overall health. Of course, your body can naturally detoxify itself once in a while, but it can also send you signals that you need some extra help. According to Mia Syn, AllerLife spokesperson and founder of Nutrition by Mia, “our body has a complete and efficient detox system in place that helps keep us healthy.”
If the toxins can’t be removed from your body by itself and you do nothing to get rid of them, they will be stored in your organism, causing you some health problems. There are many types of toxins that can affect your overall health and quality of life, such as environmental toxins, lifestyle toxins, intestinal toxins, emotional toxins and so on. The most common signs that your body needs some help with detox are: you start to gain weight even though you eat healthy and exercise, you feel tired all the time,  you can’t sleep properly, you suffer from headaches more often, you are constipated and bloated, and other skin reactions, such as acne.
“One negative effect of poor eating and drinking over the course of time is a broken metabolism. Metabolism dysfunction may present as weight gain, increased blood pressure and cholesterol, less energy, food cravings, and trouble sleeping. The good news is these symptoms can be reduced or alleviated with lifestyle changes,” says Sarah Asay, director of nutrition and product development at BistroMD.
