Russell Crowe picked a hard one when he decided to play the role of John Forbes Nash Jr, a genius mathematician who suffered from schizophrenia. The movie depicts how hard it is for such a gifted person to live a normal life and maintain relationships with family and friends.
John Forbes Nash Jr was an American mathematician who made some essential contributions to differential geometry, game theory and a study of partial differential equations. In 1950, he received his Ph.D. from Princeton and he spent a lot of his career there and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In 1959, he began experiencing some symptoms that he described as “mental disturbances”. It started to happen after he married Alicia, who was a physics major at MIT.
