Cute animals are more likely to be endangered

I know that it may sound crazy, but did you know that there are many cute animals that are on the verge of extinction just because they are too cute to handle? But this hypothesis has been scientifically tested and a 2018 study done by PLOS Biology found that the most charismatic animals, such as some species of lions, tigers, elephants, giraffes, and the list goes on, are more likely to be endangered because they have to face a lot of threats to their survival.

“Unknowingly, companies using giraffes, cheetahs, or polar bears for marketing purposes may be actively contributing to the false perception that these animals are not at risk of extinction, and therefore not in need of conservation,” said the author of the study.

Ancient dogs were on the verge of extinction because of cats

Well, it seems that the tension between cats and dogs has always existed and it all started twenty million years ago when ancient cats were very good at stealing the dog’s food.

“When various species of cats first appeared in North America, there was a steep decline in the number of canine species in the same area,” as computational biologist Daniele Silvestro, lead author of a paper on the subject, explained to Quartz.
