Denzel Washington is an American actor, director and producer. He is the recipient of numerous accolades, including seventeen NAACP Image Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, one Tony Award, and two Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor and Best Actor from nine nominations. He is regarded as one of the most talented actors in the world.
Before starting his acting career, he wanted to become a journalist. Washington earned a BA in Drama and Journalism from Fordham University in 1977. He was also interested in playing basketball at school.
