Marilyn Monroe was an American actress, model and singer. She is still regarded as one of the most beautiful women of all time. Unfortunately, she spent most of her childhood in foster homes and an orphanage and married at age 16.
During her modeling career, Monroe occasionally used the pseudonym Jean Norman. In 1946, she was given a screen-test by Ben Lyon, a 20th Century-Fox executive, and he decided to give her the stage name “Marilyn Monroe”. He chose this name because it reminded him of Broadway star Marilyn Miller, and ‘Monroe’ was her mother’s maiden name.
