The Weeknd is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is the recipient of numerous accolades, including three Grammy Awards, five American Music Awards, nineteen Billboard Music Awards, two MTV Video Music Awards, nine Juno Awards, among others, and has also been nominated for an Academy Award.
He revealed during an interview that he chose his stage name after leaving home when he was 17 years old, along with a friend. He said that he “took out the “e” because there was already a Canadian band named the weekend (copyright issues).”
