Spironolactone and licorice
Spironolactone (Aldactone) is a diuretic used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure. By lowering high blood pressure, you will reduce your risk of developing strokes, heart attacks and kidney problems.
According to medical experts, you should take it before 6 p.m., because being a diuretic, you will urinate often. In addition, licorice can interfere with spironolactone, making its effects ineffective. So, you should avoid foods or supplements that contain licorice when you follow this treatment.
Don’t forget that it is very important to take this medication exactly as prescribed, otherwise, you risk developing complications. You should NEVER increase your dose or take it more often than prescribed. Try to inform your doctor about your general condition and symptoms as soon as possible when they occur.
