Berries

In general, all types of berries are great for your heart and overall health, because they are rich in antioxidants. According to Johns Hopkins registered dietitian Kathleen Johnson, M.A., R.D., L.D.N., “Antioxidants work everywhere in the body, including the heart. Fresh or frozen is better than dried. Dried berries have only 20 percent as many phytonutrients, and more sugar.”

The antioxidants found in berries can help you lower LDL cholesterol levels and systolic blood pressure, which can improve your heart health.

Blueberries, for example, are a great source of vitamin K, fiber, vitamin C, vitamin K and manganese. Raspberries can help you get your daily dose of fiber. Due to their natural properties, goji berries (also known as wolfberries) are still used in traditional medicine nowadays. Strawberries are some of the best sources of vitamin C.
