You aren’t excited to tell them if something good has happened to you

When we are happy and excited because something good has happened to us, the first thing we do is to tell someone about our achievement (or luck). We usually call our best friends, siblings or parents, but one thing is for sure: we never miss our best friends, and in fact, they should know all the details, right?

However, if you are reluctant to tell them about your new partner or that you have just been promoted, it means that you are in a toxic friendship.

In general, people hesitate to tell their friends about their achievements because they can become jealous, envious or competitive, so this type of negative feedback will usually make you feel bad as well.

According to Cherie Burbach, relationship expert and author, “Pay attention to those little nudges you get emotionally, the ones that make you pause before sharing the good news with a friend. If you hate to bring it up for fear they will put you down or make a snarky comment, then why would you want this person as a friend?”

So, try to pay attention to their reactions when you tell them about your achievements and don’t forget that a good and devoted friend will always be happy for you, no matter what.
