Brushing your teeth
If you’re like most people, you’re brushing your teeth twice a day: once when you wake up and once before you go to sleep.
But if you’re one of those people who’s brushing post-meals as well, you’re not actually doing your oral health a favor.
According to a 2004 study published in the journal Caries Research, brushing directly after eating can erode dentin, the layer below your teeth’s enamel, more quickly than if you waited until your regularly scheduled end- or start-of-day brush.
