According to Lauren Bylsma, Ph.D., an assistant professor of psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, “It seems that crying begins just after the peak of physiological arousal as sympathetic activity starts to decrease and parasympathetic activity increases, helping to bring the body back to homeostasis.”

With that said, crying is also a normal reaction triggered by stress, sometimes it occurs without warning, but don’t worry, you will feel way better after releasing the tension in your body.
