They never wash the lemons
The truth is that after shopping, many people forget to wash their lemons and use them just like that in lemonades or teas, which is actually a big mistake. Well, this also applies to restaurants. According to Charity Ohlund, who has worked in a restaurant, everybody touches lemons, but nobody washes them, so they just cut them up and add them to your drink.
However, one of the most important things that you have to do after buying vegetables and fruits is that they should be washed properly before consumption if you want to prevent illness, as they can carry harmful germs and bacteria as well.
That being said, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), about 48 million people get sick from eating unwashed food every year and some of them even require hospitalization. Unlike meat, vegetables and fruits (despite the fact that they may contain harmful bacteria) they can also be contaminated with pesticides.
