You eat processed foods

Processed foods are not only bad for your physical health, as they can increase your risks of chronic diseases, such as type 2 diabetes, cancer, or cardiovascular disease, but you should also avoid them if you want to reduce your symptoms of depression. But what is processed food? Well, it refers to foods that have been cooked with too much salt, sugar, fats, preservatives and other unhealthy additives, such as bacon, granola bars, flavored nuts, microwave popcorn, dried fruit, margarine, ketchup and so on.

According to a 2013 study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, people who followed a healthier diet were less likely to develop symptoms of depression than those who consumed large amounts of processed foods.

However, it’s crucial to remember that we are all different, and sometimes, what may be good for some people, may be bad for others, so you have to ask your doctor for more information before changing something in your diet.

1 thought on “6 Common Habits That Can Increase Your Risk of Depression”

  1. Mental health is probably the most neglected benefit that is not easily available to the average middle class to lower middle class citizen in this present pandemic world that America faces.. There is still a stigma attached accepting that one is in need of mental health treatment, while at the same time mental health treatment is not available to the below average person in America.
Strangely enough a lot of people were drawn into thinking that the Trump era kind of quasi democratic cum autocratic /fascist type of government with tax cuts for the rich and vastly not much for the average middle to low income people; it defies reason, but still is in . Yes democracy is
need of repair as is mental health care.
