You spend too much time alone

Of course, experts recommend that you spend some quality time alone from time to time because this way you will learn how to enjoy your own presence and control your thoughts, which can be good for your mental health, after all. However, spending too much time alone (or indoors) can increase your risk of depression, because your brain will feel socially excluded and anxious when you will meet new people.

To protect yourself against this, Susan Heitler, PhD, a clinical psychologist and author of Prescriptions Without Pills, says that  “We can give or receive smiles and laughter. Any time we connect with someone else, it’s an opportunity for positive emotional exchange.”

1 thought on “6 Common Habits That Can Increase Your Risk of Depression”

  1. Mental health is probably the most neglected benefit that is not easily available to the average middle class to lower middle class citizen in this present pandemic world that America faces.. There is still a stigma attached accepting that one is in need of mental health treatment, while at the same time mental health treatment is not available to the below average person in America.
Strangely enough a lot of people were drawn into thinking that the Trump era kind of quasi democratic cum autocratic /fascist type of government with tax cuts for the rich and vastly not much for the average middle to low income people; it defies reason, but still is in . Yes democracy is
need of repair as is mental health care.
