You are more likely to develop anxiety disorders

The truth is that many people believe that having a high IQ can help you see only the good side of everything around you. Of course, intelligent people live healthier lives because they have higher expectations and more information, but it doesn’t mean they are happier.

According to a 2018 study done by Ruth I.Karpinski and colleagues on mental health issues and high intelligence, published in Intelligence, people with high IQs are more likely to develop mood and anxiety disorders than the national average. In addition, they found that the subjects were also more susceptible to environmental allergies than other people with a lower IQ, but this phenomenon remains unexplained.

However, researchers believe that intelligent people are more likely to develop anxiety disorders because they are more aware of the gravity of various situations, especially in the workplace.

As the American novelist, Ernest Hemingway once said, “Happiness in intelligent people is the rarest thing I know.”

Of course, it doesn’t mean that only individuals with a high IQ can experience anxiety. This is a normal phenomenon that can occur in people of all ages, regardless of their gender, race, IQ level and so on. Everyone can feel anxious at some point in their lives, because this is how your brain reacts to stress, making you aware that something dangerous is coming.

The most common types of anxiety disorders include panic disorder, regular anxiety, social anxiety disorder, specific phobias, separation anxiety and so on.

In conclusion, the main idea is that the smarter you are, the higher awareness you possess, which makes you more anxious than the average person.
