1. Old plastic containers
Go through your collection of food-storage containers and throw out anything made of clear, rigid plastic, and stamped with a 7 or “pc” (polycarbonate), because these types of containers may contain BPA (bisphenol A).
BPA is a chemical that is added to a lot of commercial products. This includes hygiene products, baby bottles, toiletries, sport equipment, eyeglass lenses and food containers.
According to a study, BPA can cause infertility, have negative effects on babies, may trigger heart disease and type 2 diabetes and may raise the risk of obesity.
The newer polycarbonate containers are manufactured without BPA, but the old ones still probably have it.
If you want to make sure that you won’t affect your health, buy clear glass containers. This way, your food will be fresh for more time too.
