Telling the story of American women for over 50 years, Barbie has always been an iconic doll. Barbie was launched in 1959 by businesswoman Ruth Handler and over a billion dolls have been sold worldwide. However, Mattel which owns the brand, manufactures the doll overseas, first in Japan and now in China.
