Ask anyone what they think of when they hear the word ‘Texas.’ From cowboys to delicious barbecue, cacti and football, this would be a pretty accurate description of one of the most well known areas of the US. However, there’s more to it.
Unfortunately, very few people know about the beauty of the Texan coastline, which is marvellous to say the least. Aside from the animal diversity of the area, the crystal clear water of these outstanding beaches are the perfect holiday destination. Although the area isn’t as popular as other coastlines in the US, the ones who get to discover it will get to enjoy a much more quiet, beautiful environment.
1. Galveston Island
Just an hour away from Houston lies perhaps one of the best escapes from the Texan city life. From resort hotels for all pockets, fish houses, hiking trails and smooth-sand beaches, it’s impossible to get bored here.
After the Great Storm of 1900, there was built a beachfront structure – the 10.4-mile Seawall. It’s believed that this is the longest continuous sidewalk and thanks to its thin sand and beautiful view, walking here would be truly relaxing.
The Eastern edge of the island is filled with beach parties, festivals and live concerts.
