A heart-shaped face – South Korea

Even though it sounds strange to you and me, people in South Korea opt for facial surgery in order to obtain a heart shaped face. The explanation is simple: they want to be considered more beautiful, of course. You shouldn’t be surprised if you see ads that encourage this type of surgery if you visit South Korea. They promote the idea that a heart shaped face will look good on you.

That being said, it seems that many South Korean women opt for a lot of complex surgeries to obtain that facial shape, such as breaking the jaw bones. Unfortunately, they can’t eat solid food for a long time after the surgery.

However, this operation is not always successful. For example, a few years ago, an unnamed South Korean TV presenter deformed herself because she wanted a heart shaped face. Nevertheless, plastic surgeries are considered normal in South Korea.

Excess weight – Mauritania

Did you know that being overweight is actually an indicator of beauty in Mauritania? It seems that thin women are less likely to find a man, and all women try all their lives to gain weight. According to the inhabitants of Mauritania, women are sent to special camps from an early age where they have to eat up to 16,000 calories a day. In general, people consume about 1,500 a day, so the difference is huge.

Even if this beauty standard is mandatory in Mauritania if you want to find a man and marry him, it can also cause you a lot of health problems in the long run. According to medical experts, overweight people are more likely to develop heart diseases, diabetes, different types of cancer and stomach illnesses. Eating almost 16,000 calories a day as a child or teenager can be quite dangerous for your overall health.
