Nuts
Nuts contain healthy fats, fiber and protein that are good for your health condition. They are also high in vitamins and minerals, such as magnesium and vitamin E. Nuts can help reduce the risk of heart disease.
“The one kind of food that most helps me live healthfully is nuts, and for me, any nut will do. I love them of course because they’re delicious, but also because study after study suggests that their inclusion in my diet helps prevent many chronic diseases,” said Yoni Freedhoff, M.D., medical director of the Bariatric Medical Institute at the University of Ottawa, author of “The Diet Fix: Why Diets Fail and How to Make Yours Work”.
“I also love them because they are full of protein and healthy fats that leave me feeling fuller longer, which in turn helps me all day long with dietary restraint. One trick I like to do is buy a cheap 1/4 cup measuring cup to store with my container of nuts. Nuts are quite an energy dense, with each 1/4 cup of whole nuts coming in at around 200 calories,” Freedhoff said.
