Berries

Some of the most popular, delicious and nutrient-dense foods are berries. They are rich in antioxidants which can help keep free radicals under control. Free radicals are beneficial in small amounts, but could adversely affect your health if their numbers increase. Moreover, berries can help improve blood sugar and insulin response and fight inflammation as well.

“In order for berries to be ripe by the time they get to us, they are often picked in their pre-ripe form and they further lose some of their nutrients during their long travel to your grocery store,” says Cassandra Suarez, a registered dietitian in Boston, Massachusetts.

Carrots

Did you know that carrots have many health benefits and are perfect if frozen? In this sense, it’s important to know that carrots can help reduce the risk of cancer, lower blood cholesterol, can help you lose weight and are also good for your eyes.

“Frozen carrots are an excellent option because of the high levels of beta carotene and antioxidants have been locked into the vegetable through the freezing process, ensuring that it’s powerful health benefits like improved vision, beautiful skin, cancer prevention, and anti-aging don’t disappear,” says Suarez.
