Insanity, madness, and craziness
Insanity, madness, and craziness are archaic terms used especially in movies to describe abnormal mental or behavioral patterns. They describe criminals who usually violate social norms and are mentally unstable.
In the United States, this term is actually used legally to describe criminals who have committed crimes, suffer from an antisocial personality disorder and are not capable to recognize their wrongdoing.
In general, movies put people suffering from certain mental illnesses in a bad light, making them look like monsters. However, this must be stopped, and people should better understand what each disease entails.
